What are the similarities and differences between the teaching of Emptiness in Theravāda and the teaching of Emptiness in Mahayana? I think emptiness refers to the emptiness of self in all Dhamma.
One difference is that somehow some people in some school of mahāyana can use emptiness in such a way as to justify that after arahant dies, there’s still something.
Like their emptiness is about concepts, once the concepts are gone, there’s no such thing as birth, death etc. Doesn’t matter if there’s actually changes in the physical world which other people can point to as rebirth, for the person who undergone it, there’s no such concept, so there’s no rebirth for him. Total non-sense.
The destruction of the concept of self (eradication of self view fetter) is supposed to lead to really cessation of the manifestation of anything at the 6 sense bases, because there would be no more 6 sense bases to arise after death of arahant.
