Recently saw a video of the Jyogesa temple in South Korea getting an AI robot monk. I know that the Buddhism sect South Korea practices is already very far from the truth but I can just imagine how many non-buddhists will see this and laugh at us. They will think this speaks for all buddhists.

Why would people laugh at robots?
Well, of course robots cannot be monks, as it’s defined in the vinaya, only humans can become monastics. So I don’t take their label of robot monks seriously, more like robots who help to propagate dhamma or sweep the floor, whatever they use it for.
I myself had created quite a lot of notebook LM with different combinations of the tipitaka / commentaries inserted in for people to search accordingly.

If that’s the source of your post, then since they are only giving the robot 5 precepts, the robot is not a monk, it’s a Buddhist robot.
