Can I technically ordain now? My parents are okay with me ordaining at some point in my life and I technically already have their permission. I just realize I don’t really need to finish my bachelor’s degree. I aready have an associate’s degree. Also, I realized deep down the reason why I keep going to college and doing an internship is because I wanted money and when I searched my feelings deeper than that, I realized I wanted money for sensual pleasures like eating good food, living in a good apartment. Now I don’t want that anymore. I could literally unenroll in my college and book a flight to Myanmar, go to Pa Auk, and ordain as soon as possible. If I’m unsure, I could make a quick call to my parents just before ordination when the sangha is already waiting to start the ordination procedure. I think at that point, my parents wouldn’t say “Go back to America”. They would just accept it.
