I recommend reading the Thera apadana. Many kind of good deeds can fulfil one’s aspirations. There are many good deeds such as thinking good thoughts about the Buddha, or praising the Buddha, or paying homage. These deeds can give immeasurable good results and prevent one from falling into bad realms until one becomes an arahant.
There was also a case where someone was able to observe the five precepts for his entire life and was only reborn in good realms for a very very long time until becoming an arahant.
Yup …but if someone comming in contact with buddha and making aspirations then it’s obvious …there is no comparison for there merits…
But in today’s world…yes we can take Ideas from them …
Am going to read this …
Thanks…
We need to remember that when the texts mention aspirations that this must be with kusala cittas.
We all have aspirations for lofty goals - but these can be with moha and lobha- and thus are pointless. So without fulfilling the conditions - which are difficult and take great effort and wisdom accumulated over lifetimes - these won’t be realized.
Nevertheless we may see the benefits of Dhamma now and that is associated with wisdom. This can help aditthana parami, the perfection of determination, to grow and this fortifies right effort.
