So the mind is the observer which is why I used that phrase. This is where rigid systems from the past fail to account for reality in the light of new knowledge. You have every sense in your body wired with nerves to your brain and yet you stick with a heart model.. Either way doesn’t matter but it makes you look out of touch with reality. There is other stuff that is even more mind blowing but you are stuck in a model that is not really a complete or accurate explanation.
Is a computers ICU a place where nothing happens and the processing is somewhere else?
Dhamma is much better than abhidhamma because it does not suffer from that problem. It still fits with science and is a better description. Abhidhamma explains into a corner. Then there are other wondrous things in life like kamma and how it works. It is really on another level outside the scope of normal experience. “We are all the heirs of our own kamma and owners of our own kamma, kamma is the cause of whatever happens to us… whatever kamma we do good or bad of that we will the heir.” There is something wondrous about this realisation as it is not just 4 elements and not self. Our destiny on this path to finally release ourselves from the belief in self depends on our kamma of body, speech and mind and our practise of the noble eight fold noble path. So I think at some point we have to realise the Buddha was someone really special because he went beyond the thoughts of the day to a new way to look at things. It is so hard to do that but it requires a lot of good kamma.
