Dharana Paritta

Is this text canon in Theravada Buddhism? As far as I know, it is chanted in Myanmar.

Although some might not believe in the authenticity of this text, I think it can still serve as a protection and is quite beneficial because it’s about the qualities of the Buddha, so it can be a form of Buddhanusati which I believe can protect us.

It is not so. Spurious texts abound in great number.
And indeed, it is often chanted in Myanmar. I have heard [without certainty] that it is used commonly within the Mahāsī lineage.

Verily, matters proceed not in such a manner. Had it borne any efficacy, it would surely have been accounted within the Canon or its commentaries.
And were all things to incline toward such a possibility, the Mahāyāna texts—so replete with utterances of protection and preservation—would have been foremost in their proclamation thereof; but such is not the case.

The sutta itself might not be in the pali canon, but I’m pretty sure the qualities of the Buddha mentioned are in the pali canon or commentaries

It is not a sutta; behold once more its name. In any case, the standpoint which I did mention doth remain the same.
