When I ordain in the future, I’d like to practice the ascetic practices of dwelling in the forest, dwelling beneath a tree, renouncing the lying posture, and maybe a few more practices.
Can we stay under a tree instead of a hut at Pa-Auk?

You can try it out where you are right now. Of course be careful of snakes. Use your back yard or a campground. You will see it is not so easy. But it is good to try.
You should ask permission from the teacher. I don’t see why they won’t allow you to try. I doubt it will last. You cannot do this during vassa. You need a place with a roof walls and a door. But outside of vassa you can do.
Thank you for replying, Venerable Sir. I want to try it in a campground for at least 7 days in the future. I can’t help but feel inspired by ascetics and monks who did this dwelling-under-the-tree practice in the past.
If it feels really good, I might not want to come back to the household life.
