Does anyone have any recordings of jataka chanting and also other sutta chantings? There are recordings of paritta chanting but I’m looking for jataka chanting.
I want to learn and chant the Vessantara jataka, and the Buddhavamsa. I was wondering if there are any recordings available.
I want to learn how to chant in the most beautiful way, like 2500 years ago.
Have you learnt pāli yet?
I don’t find it beneficial for you to be learning chanting just the sounds without knowing the individual words of it. Sentence by sentence or paragraph by paragraph doesn’t cut it well enough for Pāli translations.
If you want to learn chanting certainly there’s plenty of more common chants to memorize first. You have done Metta, maṅgala, ratana etc? Those should be easy to find.
Once you got pāli learned and memorized quite a few other chants, you can chant whatever other chants on your own.

I have only learned a tiny bit of Pali, Venerable Sir. It might take a long time to master it. Do you have any advice on how to learn and master Pali?
Helping you, and also calling your bluff
If you promise to memorise, I will chant it for you.
I will do 3 or 4 verses at a time, but the first batch will be less.
When you show me you have memorized a batch, I will record another set for you.
The first batch will be a mere 2 verses because I want to see you actually do this first. The chanting will only be for the purpose of pronunciation and timing of the verses. I’m not so great at chanting, but I can probably do a decent job.
I will send a link to a google drive mp3 by private message and then you can post your progress here online.
You have tpr and epitaka extension, and you can find the text and translation here.
