Agitation in meditation

What to do when mind becomes too much agitated due to practice…
It’s like I was focusing on breath contact…and mind is running away am placing it again and again…it becomes so agitated that I start felling heaviness in my Head…
It happens only in setting meditation…if I doings same in sleeping position this does not happen…
I think body pain due to long time seating also adds agitation…
What to do ???

Their is something called balancing 7 jhana factors… concentration needs to be balanced with effort.
To much effort= agitation
Only concentration= laziness

What we should do ??

Since you were able to see the nimitta before, I think it’d be best to go back to the conditions that made that possible and repeat what you did back then to see the nimitta.

Feeling heaviness in your head could be due to tension in your head.

Her videos might help you. She meditated at Pa Auk.

I would take a different approach

I see the aim is to learn what life really is and so to gradually eliminate the wrong view of self. What is agitation - it is real and thus should be known. . When there is real understanding agitation is known as merely a conditioned dhamma, it is not my agitation. Thus it can and should be an object for satipatthana.

Samyutta nikaya 45:177, Hindrances

“Bhikkhus, there are these five hindrances. What five?

“The hindrance of sensual desire, the hindrance of ill will, the hindrance of sloth and torpor, the hindrance of restlessness and remorse, the hindrance of doubt. These are the five hindrances.

This Noble Eightfold Path is to be developed for direct knowledge of these five hindrances, for the full understanding of them, for their utter destruction, for their abandoning.”

First steps first- no way to rush to destroy the hindrances - they must be understood first.
The hindrances, agitation and what not, are going to arise but do we see them as useful objects for satipatthana or instead try to jump the stage of elimination?

Whatever arises is merely the khandhas, ayatanas, dhatus - thus every moment is showing the nature of life - as anicca, as dukkha and anatta. And so nothing that arises need be cause for any concern , It is all a chance to understand.
