Cakkhuviññāṇa: is it always vipaka?

Can there be cakkhuviññāṇa (etc for other 4 viññāṇa) that is NOT vipāka?

Is this vipāka due to previous kamma?

Is kamma acitta or citta?

Thank you Zans for making me think of this ! It cleared up some things!

Yes the cakkhuviññāṇa is always a vipaka citta and it is conditioned by past kamma.

Exactly, Robert!
That is what I’ve meant. That according to Abh it is always conditioned by previous kamma (which is nāma). It is never due to only rūpa, kamma plays a role.

yes the vipaka cittas experience the rupa through the 5 doors- but the experience is nama.
Kamma also produces the sense bases - but it may be a different kamma .
