Revisiting this post makes me wonder what examples we have in the root and commentary texts that mention bargaining. I’m guessing it would have been such a routine part of daily life that it never merited consideration. Wouldn’t that have been the standard way of commerce in the time of the Buddha?
Most likely. But ppl who have unfair leverage shouldn’t bargain. Same reason why employers shouldn’t date employees. The power dynamic makes it unfair.
The text seems to only be talking about monks take advantage of ppls faith, civil servants who have ties to the king, and modern cases like landlords bargaining with their own tenants. If you have such a relationship just avoid bargaining with that shop in the first place. The same way employers should avoid dating employees
